Health officials are warning residents of the state of Texas to take precautions following an outbreak of coronaviruses.
In a statement Friday, the Texas Department of State Health Services said more than 200 people in the state have tested positive for coronaviral diseases including HCV, CNV and SARS.
The virus is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia and death.
The state is urging people to take steps to avoid becoming infected.
The CDC said the cases are spread through contact with respiratory or oral fluids.
Health officials said Friday that the infection rate in the Houston area is 2.7 per 100,000 people, while the statewide rate is 0.1 per 100.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the Texas coronavirock is spreading in other parts of the country.
